Note 13
Smelling salts are not a pre-workout
Caffeine lasts an hour. Ammonia inhalants last a shift.
A pre-workout is a drink you have forty minutes before you care. Smelling salts are an ammonia inhalant you use when the bar is loaded. They are not the same product, and stacking the language does not make them one.
Different clocks
Caffeine stays. It jitters. It wrecks a late session if you timed it like a morning person. Ammonia inhalants last seconds. Breathing picks up, the head clears, and then you are just a person under a bar again. That is why a hockey bench can share one bottle across a period without anyone climbing the walls.
If you already drank the scoop, the salts are not “more caffeine.” They are a switch for the next attempt. If you did not drink the scoop, they still will not replace sleep or a meal.
What to buy if you want the short clock
Buy a bottle that is still quiet when it arrives. Pre-activated smelling salts have been commuting. Ampules are one breath and a pile. A multi-use bottle with a cap that shuts — Bardown — is the version that survives a gym bag.
Use it for the lift you actually came for. Leave the shaker in the locker.
